The Firehouse Wine Cellars story began over 30 years ago with a group of friends and some pints of beer. After many late nights, the dream of opening South Dakota’s first brewpub – The Firehouse Brewing Company – was realized. The love for locally crafted beverages and top-notch guest service grew from there and in 2014 we added Firehouse Wine Cellars, a winery that is the perfect complement to the longtime downtown Rapid City brewery.
Our focus has always been on creating high-quality, traditional wines from both Vitis vinifera and cold climate grapes. Our winemaker Adam Martinez sources from the finest growers across the West and Midwest, including our local vineyard Old Folsom Vineyard, to create exceptional, internationally award-winning wines. Old Folsom, only three miles from our tasting room, was established in 2007 by the Goulds, a Firehouse family from the beginning. They produce high-quality, cold-climate grapes using a sustainable approach.
The popularity of our wonderful wines and amazing guest service required us to expand two additional times. In 2018, we opened our Smokejumper Station tasting room in the Southern Hills, and most recently we acquired a 12,000-square-foot building to expand our winery production.

“Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things in the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.”
– Ernest Hemingway
“Great atmosphere and a wonderful assortment of wines all made locally. Don’t forget to check out the souvenir shop! Will return again on our next trip from Iowa.”
“This is a very friendly spot right in the heart of Rapid City, with a surprisingly broad selection of wines. We loved it so much we went twice in a three-day trip. The prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly as well.”
